Sandeep Diddi remembers
Sandeep Diddi, paternal uncle of Ashish and is a banker.
Dr. Ashish Sharma. That is a difficult name to fathom for me, I always knew him as Ranu. The energetic little boy who’d come across from his grand mothers place to come and see the construction work going on at our house. Ranu was all of 3 or 4 then but for a little fellow he had a lot of energy and lots of questions. Soon, he made friends with the workers and they looked forward to his coming, especially the old carpenter. he had a special bond with him.
One day there was a lot of commotion in Ranu’s house, we could hear loud crying for there and we were curious to see what had happened. Oh boy what a ruckus the little fellow was creating. He had his granddad, grandmother, his dad my mom all in attendance and all for a haircut. The noise was because he didn’t want a haircut.
I happened to stay with the family again in 1985 and had the opportunity to interact with both Ranu and his sister for a week or so. It was fun being with the kids and have always remembered those lovely, carefree days.
Ashish went on to Engineering school and later doing his PhD, I didn’t get the opportunity to interact with him once he left for the US. I do so hope that we had got more time together. May the lord grant him peace.
