Navkiran Sandhu remembers
Mrs. Navkiran Sandhu, friend of Rajiv & Suman Sharma. Ashish and Navkiran shared a special bond though they never met.
Our relationship is ‘different’ and unique in many ways. You were so near in innumerable ways and also far away in terms of time and distance. We had never met, yet we exchanged many ideas and truths of life. The foundation of our relationship was truthfulness, trust, and honesty.
My interactions with you began only after you were diagnosed with cancer. Initially, we shared our beliefs and concepts on healing. You, a man of science, believed in modern medicine and practices, whereas I was focused on faith, prayer, and alternative healing. We agreed to disagree, respecting each others views.
I began to know you better through ourĀ WhatsApp chats and conversations with your mom, Suman. I realized that you were a wonderful, caring son and brother, a loving husband and father, and a great professional. I began to understand the reasons that made you truly special for so many people.
There is no doubt that you had your strong beliefs and views and wouldn’t compromise on them. In some matters, there was no middle way, and all counter arguments were rejected. However, with the passage of time, you did understand and accept some of my thoughts and beliefs, an indicator of an open mind and spirit.
I admire the strength, courage, and spirit with which you dealt with the pain and suffering caused by your cancer. You continued to work and do all that you could, keeping yourself and the others around you engaged.
Our relationship continues to be unique. You may inhabit another realm, but you still live in my memories and in the hearts of so many of your loved ones.
My prayers and blessings are with you always.
Navkiran Sandhu
