Monjoy Saha remembers

I joined Ashish’s Lab in August 2018. Since then, Ashish and I have worked on several projects. He was a highly talented, knowledgeable, supportive, and caring person. He was one of the best researchers in computer science. Ashish’s contribution to this society and science is unforgettable. Several times, I met with him in his office, discussing research progress, career goals, etc. I always found him to be kind and energetic.

When he was diagnosed with cancer, I met him multiple times along with other colleagues, but it was impossible to tell that he had such a devastating disease. Although he was going through critical times, he always thought about the well-being of his students and colleagues. Ashish has actively contributed to research in multiple ways irrespective of his health conditions. He attended our weekly lab meetings and guided us just like his pre-diagnosis stage. I feel bad for him because he left us very early. I wish we could have spent more time with him.
