Aditya Sharma remembers

I am Aditya, nephew of Ashish Sharma and my mother is his younger sister. I have pleasant memories of him. The first time I met him was in 2015 in Napa Valley. I don’t remember much since I was a toddler at that time. Later we met again in Greece during our family vacation. I had a lot of fun, not only with him but also my cousin, Rhea. Gogo Mamu used to play and swim with us and buy a lot of candies and cookies for us.

Fast forward to 2020, his illness came as a shock. I was devastated, my mamu was diagnosed with the deadliest type of brain tumor. I could not visit him in the first year because of the pandemic. In December of 2021, we visited him and spent two months there. Since my school was online I could manage the long stay with him. We did a lot of fun things together, watching movies, math and sometimes even praying together. At night before my classes would begin, I would keep his snack bowls ready with orange and dark chocolate, in case he got hungry in the middle of the night. I visited him again during the summer of 2022 and continued to do fun things with him, even celebrating his Birthday. We would both enjoy our Tacos together, sometimes for dinner.

After a few months, we got the news of his passing. The whole family was in shock, it was unbelievable. We all went back for Gogo Mamu’s funeral which was very painful. We lost the best member of the family.

I talk about him, remembering him through pictures too, and miss him a lot.
